Presenting The Peninsula London

Monday 4 March 2024

 The Peninsula Hotel London

Situated alongside Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch, The Peninsula London occupies one of the city’s most prestigious addresses. Venue Search London were lucky enough to explore this beautiful new luxury hotel, just steps away from Kensington Gardens...

Sumptuous surroundings paired with advanced technology ensure that every event, whether celebratory or business, will make an unforgettable impression at The Peninsula London. The hotel’s collection of elegant event spaces, ranging from the refined St. George Ballroom to an intimate and relaxed private cinema, can be personalised to suit virtually any gathering. Along with cutting-edge technology offerings and a dedicated audio-visual team, all event venues are enhanced by the hotel’s superb culinary offerings, luxury transport, and legendary Peninsula service.

This new London hotel’s grandest and most spacious event space, the St. George Ballroom, provides a lavish setting for formal events and showcases. With soaring 6-metre coffered ceilings, a sophisticated contemporary decor, an adjoining pre-function area adorned with curated artworks, and dedicated lifts (including two spacious enough for cars), the ballroom can accommodate banquets of up to 450 seated guests, as well as large exhibitions.

Adjacent to the St. George Ballroom (and one of our personal favourites) the polished Wellington Room is ideal for smaller gatherings. Its 5-metre ceiling and ambient light fixtures create a fresh, airy atmosphere for business meetings or dining, with seating for up to 60 guests. A connecting pre-function space and staircase provide access to breakout rooms and other event spaces within the property.

Their plush, intimate private screening room offers a stylish viewing retreat for up to 15 guests. The Cinema’s top-tier video and sound technology includes Dolby surround-sound; a 4K, 3-chip DLP cinema projector; and a 200-inch micro-perforated viewing screen. Equipped with broad angle reclining seats, dedicated restrooms, and an adjoining refreshment area with its own bar provide extra comfort.

The Belgrave, Chester, Eaton and Sloane rooms are configurable as separate or paired spaces. These four intimate conference rooms offer sophisticated, wood-panelled environments and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment such as high-definition flatscreen displays and ceiling speakers for optimal video conferencing, as well as access to secure printing. Each room can accommodate up to 20 guests and offers a dedicated coffee-break area. Perfect for a smaller meeting or as breakout spaces to the main Ballroom. An additional breakout space can be found in the form of The Wilton Room; a stylish, dedicated boardroom, which is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art amenities and easy access to breakout areas, is perfectly suited for intimate meetings of up to 12 guests.

With outdoor space a commodity in London, The Grand Terrace Suite does not disappoint. Featuring an expansive alfresco terrace with striking views over Belgravia, this opulent residential-style suite provides a superb setting for exclusive gatherings. The suite has its own kitchen and private lift access, and can accommodate up to 80 guests for a standing reception.

Looking for a change of scene post meeting?

Celebrating the convergence of Asian and British cultures, one of the in-house outlets, Canton Blue, offers innovative Cantonese cuisine in a collection of exquisitely decorated spaces. The restaurant’s main dining room is inspired by a maritime passage from East to West. Numerous design elements take inspiration from the Keying junk, a trade ship that connected the two countries during the mid-19th century – including displays of Cantonese porcelain, and a magnificent backlit ceiling panel depicting a celestial navigation map. The low-lit tables and intimate private booths centre around a carved, dual-aspect fireplace, shared with an adjacent tea lounge. Two private dining rooms – The Silk Room and The Music Room – each celebrate a distinctive facet of Chinese culture.

Alternatively, why not head for the skies, where soaring heights are achieved at Brooklands by Claude Bosi – a spectacular rooftop restaurant that is both a destination and a journey. The space, which pays homage to the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport, sets the scene for the modern British cuisine of Chef Director Claude Bosi. Brooklands by Claude Bosi shares its namesake with the storied Surrey racetrack – the birthplace of British racing sport and flight innovation. The restaurant, as well as its dedicated lift and entryway, are appointed with a specially curated collection of artefacts honouring Brooklands’ history. Amongst the most remarkable of these is a vintage Napier Railton, the 1933 race car that set – and still holds – Brooklands’ speed record; and an arresting scale-model of the iconic Concorde aircraft, suspended from the ceiling of the main dining room. These are also reflected in the restaurant’s two private dining rooms – ‘Napier Railton’ and ‘Mach II’. A wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, and a terrace with stunning views of London’s skyline only further enhance the sense of being airborne, available for private hire (with a good budget!).

Staying over?

The Peninsula London offers 190 exquisitely styled guest rooms and suites by Architect and Designer of Interiors, Peter Marino, many with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Hyde Park Corner, Wellington Arch and the historic architecture of Belgravia. All are appointed with bespoke furnishings, textiles, and fittings that exemplify the finest of British craftsmanship, as well as mahogany-panelled dressing rooms, luxurious bathrooms of honey onyx and the signature Peninsula Valet Box. Last but not least, a serene oasis encompassing the spacious, quiet lower floor of the hotel, The Peninsula Spa and Wellness Centre offers an array of therapies – both ancient and modern – for the ultimate relaxtion post (or pre) event.
