Nestled amongst 12 acres of Hertfordshire countryside, Sopwell House is a picturesque country house hotel just a short journey from London Bridge. This 4-star Georgian venue is the ideal destination for those seeking warm hospitality and offers an exceptional setting for many event occasions.

The venue has 128 rooms and suites, each designed with comfort and style in mind. Among these are the 16 individually curated Mews Suites, providing a more exclusive and stylish accommodation within the hotel grounds. We were lucky enough to explore a handful of these beautiful bedrooms and it’s safe to say we all fell in love with the art and décor from each room we saw.

Sopwell House features a number of versatile event spaces, ideal for everything from intimate boardroom meetings to large conferences and gala dinners. The St Alban Suite, with sophisticated décor and eye-catching chandeliers, provides a large space for up to 320 attendees, whilst the Mountbatten Room is perfect for mid-sized meetings or dinners for up to 100 guests. For those looking for something slightly smaller, the Lady Patricia & Princess Alice Suites are designed to impress, offering a perfect setting for dinners, celebrations, and standing receptions for up to 50 guests. Along with a handful of other smaller meeting rooms, all of the spaces at Sopwell offer a blend of modern design with classic décor and elegance.

Other spaces we explored throughout the hotel include The Conservatory bar, The Octagon Bar and Omboo, an Asian fusion restaurant. Omboo is vibrant and colourful, with contrasting against dark wooden tables and leafy wallpaper. The space is filled with plants and botanical pops of colour which add to the lively atmosphere; quite dissimilar to the rest of the hotel which is somewhat tranquil and calm. Walking past the restaurant you can’t help but pop your head round the corner, as the colours really do catch your eye. Beyond the event spaces and luxurious accommodation, Sopwell House is home to the award-winning Cottonmill Spa. This space is dedicated to wellness, cutting-edge gym equipment and beautifully designed relaxation areas and treatment rooms.
