Venue Search London were honoured to receive an invitation to breakfast at the opulent L'oscar last week. L’oscar London is a five-star boutique hotel and architectural gem located in the heart of Bloomsbury, close to the city and the West End.

Inspired by the history of the Bloomsbury Set, the Arts & Crafts design of the building and theatrical traditions of the area, Parisian interior designer Jacques Garcia created a seductive interior in a typically non-English style. The hotel features 39 bedrooms of which 18 are suites and is also home to L’oscar Restaurant.

Nestled within the heart of L’oscar hotel lies The Baptist, an impressive structure steeped in history and architectural significance. Constructed in 1856, The Baptist has a distinctive octagonal shape and boasting a glass-topped dome which was a bold departure from the conventional architectural norms of its time. As the years passed, The Baptist continued to evolve, adapting to the needs of its growing congregation. In the late 1920s, the church underwent significant expansion. This transformation saw the addition of a mezzanine level, nestled beneath the iconic dome. The mezzanine features hand-built elements, including exquisite hand-painted details, intricate wood panelling, and original architectural embellishments. The ground floor of The Baptist offers an enchanting setting for private events, where guests can indulge in the ultimate dining experience with exquisitely dressed tables or chic standing reception set ups.

Located on the first floor, The Baptist Gallery offers an exclusive setting for events, providing an intimate and elegant atmosphere for gatherings of up to 60 guests. Ideal for private dinners, the gallery can be arranged in a restaurant-style setup or long tables on either side of the room. For those seeking exclusivity, L'Oscar offers the option to hire both floors for up to 180 standing guests. Two more event spaces are located on the first and second floors. The first is The Committee Room, which is ideal for small gatherings of up to 40 people for drinks or 26 for dinner. It is rich in history and has an original fireplace and custom furnishings. The amount of artistry displayed in The Library is astounding. Up to 70 people can be seated for dinner in this area or it can accommodate 80 for drinks. It is surrounded by beautiful oak panelling and has glass cases that showcase an extensive collection of historical books.
