Tate is a family of four art galleries (Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate Modern and Tate St. Ives) covering the UK. Tate hold the national collection of British art, containing works spanning over 500 years, as well as contemporary international art. Tate’s vision is to celebrate and share these artworks, promote access to them and deepen our understanding of their importance. They encourage everyone, including clients hiring Tate for corporate events, to be creative in their spaces.

Originally underground oil containers, the awe-inspiring Tanks were transformed in 2016 into one-of-a-kind event spaces blending industrial history with cutting-edge design. The two Tanks, which previously held 5 million litres of oil, span over 30 meters in diameter and rise 7 meters high.

Each of the spacious Tanks (South and East) accommodates up to 400 guests seated or 600 standing, while the Tanks Foyer is ideal for up to 400 for a reception. Combine all three spaces and you’ve got room for over 1,000 guests! Available for hire during the winter months (September to January), and with additional availability in April and May 2025, they are the perfect option for your next big event.

These unique venues offer flexibility for different layouts, entertainment, and catering styles. This makes them ideal for award ceremonies, Christmas parties, fashion and luxury brand events. The raw concrete structure can support large setups, including rigging for lighting, sound, projection, and even aerial entertainment. Being subterranean allows guests to be transported to any setting or evoke any atmosphere. Whether that be a futuristic wonderland to an underground garden, the tanks can deliver your vision.

The Tanks are one of many event spaces within Tate Modern. The gallery’s venues include conferencing rooms, reception venues with magnificent views of the city and large spaces displaying gallery’s brutalist architecture. The former power station, now art gallery, harks back to London’s industrial and mercantile past, while reflecting Tate’s dedication to innovation and change.
