Last week, the VSL team headed off on an exciting FAM trip with 8th Floor, exploring some of London’s most sought-after luxury lifestyle hotels; Mama Shelter and the Broadwick Soho. From the vibrant East-end scene to the chic streets of Soho, each hotel offers a unique take on modern luxury. 

The evening began in Shoreditch, where we met the wonderful team at Mama Shelter London and got to experience first-hand their unique, vibrant hospitality. Just a short walk from Bethnal Green, Mama Shelter offers a quirky, modern setting for all kinds of events. Whether that be a corporate meeting, training sessions, or social celebrations, the venue really has it all.  The hotel features two flexible meeting rooms (called Ateliers) equipped with all the latest AV. These spaces can be used separately or combined to host up to 100 guests.

For a more unique offering though, the karaoke rooms at Mama are located on the basement level and are the perfect choice for team-building or private parties. These vibrantly decorated (soundproof) booths can host up to 15 guests and come fully equipped with song libraries featuring thousands of well-known songs - so whether you're belting out Adele or rapping to Gangsta's Paradise, there’s something for everyone!

We then had the chance to sample some of the delicious food and beverage in the courtyard terrace, which is weatherproof and can be used all year round - a stylish, all-season space for up to 70 guests standing. This can be taken exclusively or combined with the restaurant for larger gatherings. Mama Shelter has a range of versatile event spaces and a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout. They really do offer the perfect mix of work, play, and celebration in the heart of Shoreditch.

We then jumped in a cab, heading for our next stop at the Broadwick Soho. When we arrived, we headed straight up to the 7th floor and were lucky enough to sample even more delicious cocktails, and tasty small plates, whilst enjoying the lively atmosphere rooftop setting at Flute.

A brief overview of this gorgeous boutique hotel: the property features 57 custom designed rooms, as well as four food and beverage offerings; Dear Jackie, The Nook, The Dining room and our personal favourite, Flute, the rooftop bar and terrace.

In terms of event spaces, the Dining Room, can take up to 28 guests on one table and the space is simply stunning! The exquisite décor, cosy fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows with views stretching all the way from the London Eye to St Paul’s and beyond means this room presents a premium offering for intimate dining events. The venue is a perfect spot for VIP meetings, intimate dinners and private celebrations in the heart of soho.

From Shoreditch to Soho, our FAM trip with 8th Floor was a great way to spend our Thursday night. Mama Shelter and The Broadwick are both very different and offer a unique experience, but very special in their own way. Whether you're after the buzz of Shoreditch or Soho’s boutique luxury, both lifestyle hotels should be on your radar for your next London stay or event.
