From the tranquil gardens at Tate Britain to the brutalist terraces of Tate Modern, discover the summer venues available at Tate.
Tate first opened its doors in 1897 and has since grown into a world-renowned institution. Over the past 120 years, it has expanded to include over 70,000 artworks spanning from 1500 to the present day, including the national collection and an inspiring selection of international modern and contemporary art. Tate’s two iconic London galleries—Tate Modern and Tate Britain—offer visitors unique, contrasting experiences of art history and innovation.
At Tate Modern, the former power station now modern art gallery, there are several stylish and contemporary spaces available for hire. Firstly, The Member’s Bar, located on the river side, on the upper floors of the gallery. It features two balconies: one offering views of the river and city, and the overlooking the Shard. With a capacity for up to 120 guests for a reception and celebrations, the space perfect for standing events. On the opposite side of the gallery (Blavatnik Building), is Level 10, located on the highest floor. Here you can experience the raw architecture of Tate Modern; its exposed concrete and brickwork is paired with a wraparound undercover balcony that provides a 270-degree view of the city skyline. Perfect for cocktails whilst enjoying the views, followed by elegant summer dinners.
Tate Britain, like its sister gallery, is situated along the riverside, allowing guests the unique option of arriving by boat. Tate Britain has beautiful neo-classical architecture with a lawn and terrace that lies on the east side of the gallery. Nestled away from the roads and river, it provides an oasis for summer receptions for up to 300 guests. The lawns allow for stretch tents and marquees as well as outdoor bars, a great space to enjoy balmy evenings. Guests can then proceed into the gallery to continue celebrations or host a stead dinner surrounded by Victorian masterpieces/artwork in the stunning gallery 9.
Whether you elevate your event or simply unwind on the expansive lawns, Tate offers the perfect setting to relax and soak in the creative atmosphere and enjoy the city.
