Dulwich Picture Gallery is the world’s first purpose-built public gallery and home to one of the finest collections of Old Master paintings in the world.

Our magnificent Soane Gallery is our showcase events venue. Sir John Soane’s design has been an inspiration to gallery architecture worldwide since Dulwich Picture Gallery opened in 1817. Five perfectly proportioned rooms interlink to form our grand enfilade, famous for its rich red walls.

The Soane Gallery displays one of the finest collections of Old Master paintings in the world. Raise a glass alongside works by such artists as Rubens, Rembrandt and Canaletto. Up to 120 guests can be seated at a single table that runs the length of the space. For smaller events there is also the opportunity to have a drinks reception at one end of the Gallery before being seated for dinner at the other end.

From intimate garden parties to large marquee events, our beautifully landscaped gardens provide a peaceful retreat with the stunning architecture of our Soane Gallery as the perfect backdrop. The Gallery Gardens are available to hire outside of public hours.

The Linbury Room is a contemporary space surrounded by sleek white walls and top-lit by natural daylight. Hire of the Linbury Room includes use of the in-built AV facilities, including a projector, screen, laptop and lectern. The Linbury Room is available to hire for a full day, as well as for evening events after the Gallery has closed to the public.

The Gallery Café has a contemporary feel and is perfect for smaller occasions. With floor to ceiling windows and fold-back doors that open onto our outside terrace, this space offers a tranquil setting with picturesque views of our gardens. The Gallery Café is catered exclusively by Bovingdons and is available to hire outside of public hours.

Weddings As a licenced wedding venue, we offer a number of flexible spaces for your civil ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and dancing. With a seated dinner in the Soane Gallery, you can enjoy one long table running down the length of this beautiful room, surrounded by our collection of Old Master paintings.
