Hire The State Dining Room, Syon Park (TW8 8JF)
The State Dining Room is decorated in white and gold, with a pinkish tinge to the walls, and almost a French style. Marble statues representing the mythological gods and goddesses of food and wine line one wall, and look out over the room. The room also has three large windows with a wonderful view of the South Lawn and Cedar Mound beyond.
The room's Georgian architect, Robert Adam, remarked that French dining rooms "instead of being hung with damask tapestry, etc., they are always finished with stucco and adorned with statues and paintings that they may not retain the smell of the victuals" - thus was his plan for the State Dining Room. Hence the State Dining Room is a beautiful, stunning, historic setting for a formal luncheon or dinner - and always smells fresh and inviting!
The room can host up to eighty guests on round tables, or fifty people on one long table. Syon House recommends the use of candles and candelabra on tables to enhance the stately atmosphere of the room. For winter events and on cooler days, the fire is lit under the marble fireplace too.
Dancing is not permitted, but guests are welcome to enjoy music (played musicians rather than amplified) during their evening.
