Our Spaces:

Set across five magnificent Victorian townhouses overlooking Kensington Gardens, The Columbia has more than 650 square meters of event and shoot space, over 6 dedicated rooms. With floor-to-ceiling windows, beautiful park views, elegant panelling and 4-meter-high ceilings, our spaces are the perfect backdrop for events, shoots and filming.

We’ve got a huge variety of spaces, from ornate ballrooms, romantic colonnaded balconies and sweeping staircases, to large halls for events of up to 250 guests and more intimate spaces for pop-up shops or press days. Whether it’s a party, a conference, a shoot, or anything in between, we’re here to help make it happen. Plus, we’re a stone’s throw away from Paddington, Lancaster Gate, Bayswater and Queensway station.

We also sit just outside the congestion zone, have private parking and our own on-site team, making any event or production as straight-forward as possible.

History:

Built in 1856 by Sancton Wood, The Columbia is made up of 5 Grade II listed French Renaissance townhouses. Overlooking one of London’s greatest parks, our townhouses have seen many lives - from a park-side residence for opium dealers, merchants and generals, to a war-time Red Cross hospital run by Lady Randolph Churchill, a stint as an Air Force officers’ club in the 60s and the hotel of choice for bands on the rise from the 80s to the early 00s. We’re proud of our spirited past.

We’ve had the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Stereophonics, Iggy Pop, Scissor Sisters, Slade, and Kings of Leon staying with us, with The Columbia becoming a home away from home for them whilst they made their music. After living with us for 6 months, Oasis even decided to name their song ‘Columbia’ after many ‘nights of nonsense’ at the hotel.
