Hire The Court Room, Trinity House (EC3N 4DH)
Accommodating up to 130 standing and 60 seated, the south-facing Court Room is suffused with natural light from three large windows and offers sweeping views encompassing the Tower of London to the left and The Shard to the far right. The room has the character of a saloon in a great country house with a deep cove to the ceiling which was originally painted with a central allegorical scene and trompe l'oeil panels later restored by William Holman Hunt. The floor is covered with a custom-made carpet featuring the arms of Trinity House – the second largest single-weave carpet in the British Isles after the largest at Windsor Castle. Six full-length portraits hang on the walls, among them paintings by Gainsborough Dupont of George III and Queen Charlotte, commissioned to commemorate the opening of the original building by George III in 1796. Other paintings of interest are a copy of Holbein's portrait of Henry VIII who first incorporated Trinity House by Royal Carter in 1514, and a contemporary portrait of Elizabeth I attributed to the circle of George Gower.
